Services
Encouraging pastors is the main thrust of all MMF involvement. Leadership team members frequently
phone pastors in the network just to make sure they are doing well. On a regular basis you'll find them
meeting with pastors individually over a meal just to talk. When they hear of a new pastor in the area,
they often call to welcome them and invite them to the monthly meetings. No financial request is made
at any time in these meetings - the focus is on the individual pastor's needs, victories and burdens.
Consulting Services
There have been times when congregations, especially those
not affiliated with an organized denomination, have requested
consultations with MMF leadership to resolve conflict. The MMF
is not a governmental authority and does not control or usurp the
local church government. It merely acts as a neutral third party
offering objective, non-binding spiritual guidance when requested
by those with the authority to do so.
Benevolence
Pastors, especially of small churches, often need funding for personal matters. The needs are medical
or emotional in nature, for themselves or members of their immediate family. The MMF attempts to come
alongside to assist in meeting these financial needs, helping the pastor through the crisis. Sometimes,
this benevolence is in the form of helping with pulpit duties when a pastor needs unscheduled time away.
Recently, a pastor of an urban church of 100 congregants encountered significant stress barriers and
was ready to leave his post. Even though he attended the MMF's monthly meetings, his church itself
was not a member. When the MMF leadership recognized the pastor's need for time away from his
duties, a number of pastors took turns fulfilling his pulpit duties which allowed him a time of renewal.
Collaboration
The MMF networks with other organizations for special purposes. It holds quarterly prayer meetings with
the Citywide Prayer Movement of Kansas City and co-sponsors the National Day of Prayer in
Kansas City with the Citywide Prayer Movement and the Greater Kansas City Association of
Evangelicals. The MMF has also partnered with the Greater Kansas City Association of Evangelicals in
regional seminars and workshops, and helped fund the area's first Hispanic Pastors Prayer Summit.
On-Going Education
Continuing education in church administration, counseling and other ministerial topics are important in
keeping a pastor's work fruitful. Through monthly meetings, seminars and workshops, the MMF hopes to
fill this need on an increasing basis.
Counseling Services
Periodically, pastors are in need of specialized, biblically-based
professional counseling for such problems as moral failure,
financial impropriety, depression and anger management.
The MMF is willing to help a pastor and spouse pay to undergo
these types of treatment services, whether it be in a residential or
office setting.
Product Development
The MMF provides a tape ministry for pastors. These tapes contain
messages from speakers on topics pertaining to ministers, often from meetings and services. The MMF
also produces worship music CD's annually to help pastors and congregations with spiritual worship.
The MMF seeks to develop books on topics relating to pastoral helps that can be used to help replicate
this type of pastoral ministry in the U.S. and other parts of the world. A video featuring pastor's
testimonies on their involvement with the MMF is also available.
Replication
This relational model has been so successful that pastors in other parts of the United States and
internationally often contact the MMF for assistance in replicating this program in their communities.
MMF leaders willingly take the time to explain the approach with others by phone, by hosting visitors
from out of town, and even traveling to areas where interest has been expressed. This replication
assistance is a growing part of the MMF's ministry development, but always predicated by the need for
each interested party to determine God's purposes for their own city and region. The MMF believes in
organic growth through healthy, life- giving relationships rather than mass duplication of a program or
operation.
